Why Travel to New York? I’ll Give You 5 Reasons!

Posted on 25 August 2009 by NYCcheaphotels

If you’ve never gotten the chance to travel to New York, you may be questioning if New York is “all it’s cracked up to be.” The Eastern gateway to the New World back in the early 1900s, New York is a blend of cultures, entertainment, and sights. Aside from the world renowned restaurants, museums, and night-life, here are five activities that could alone convince anyone to travel to New York.

Go Back to the Beginnings: Ellis Island & the Statue of Liberty
Possibly the most common attraction for New York tourists, a ferry from Battery Park to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty is perfect for families or even lone visitors. Some may even be interested in finding more about their ancestry. If you plan on making a visit to the statue’s crown, however, you must plan to take the ferry early in the morning to ensure a spot to view the skyline. Space is very limited.

A Birds-Eye View: See It All from the Tallest View!
If you’re one who’s not afraid of heights, then you’ve got to check out city from the heighest point around! The Empire State Building and Chrysler Building are iconic structures that have been featured in movies such as King Kong and multipe television series. Manhattan and beyond can be seen from irreplacable scenes.

Pay a Tribute to a Legend: John Lennon
Strawberry Fields in Central Park is a mosiac circle with the word “imagine” designed in the center which honors John Lennon, a late famous Beatle. Just a short pace from this memorial is his apartment in which he was murdered on December 8th, 1980. Visiting this musical tribute will be moving whether you are a Beatles fan or not.

Ice Skating (Seasonal): Family Fun or a Romantic Date
Since 1936, the Christmas skating rink at Rockefeller Plaza has been a feature attraction for those who travel to New York. Gliding around the giant Christmas tree will truly create fun family memories or a scenic backdrop for a romantic date!

Basketball Fans: New York Knicks Games
Though they may not be one of the best teams in the league, they sure are one of the most entertaining. The lively crowd and exciting celebrities at each of the games is enough to give you a great experience. Tickets tend to run a little high, so be sure to plan ahead and save a little extra for this event!

Well, that’s all folks! No matter what type of person you are, how many people are with you, or what excites you, there’s something in New York for you! There are still plenty of other reasons to travel to New York, so do some more research on our site to plan your trip.

Hotel Discounts Reviews: Hotels Combined

Posted on 03 August 2009 by NYCcheaphotels

First off, let me start by saying Hotels Combined is not a hotel reservation site. Instead, it uses very sophisticated software to compare rates from available hotels. Hotels Combined includes most travel destinations around the world – including New York. All you need to do is enter your travel location, and the program will search the 30 different websites in its database for the best hotel discounts. It will display all the rates available online and remove all hotels that do not have rooms available on your selected dates.

Once you decide on the hotel at which you would like to stay, click on the link to the hotel. It will redirect you to the actual hotel’s website where you can make an official booking. This service is free, effecient, and fast!

It cuts down on the time it takes for you to normally book a hotel. It’s simple to navigate and also has 9 different language options. Plus, you won’t have to search for hotel discounts, there all in one place to view.

Visit Hotels Combined to Make a Hotel Reservation.

New York Travel Tips: Important of Planning

Posted on 26 July 2009 by NYCcheaphotels

Planning a trip to New York is not like planning a trip to anywhere else in the world! New York is a big city with lots to do. You must have a good plan ready from the moment you step off of the plane to the second you get right back on.

  • Catching taxis isn’t as fun as it looks! Sure, in the movies pedestrians can catch a taxi in a snap. However, real life is not that easy – especially if you are travelling with a group or family. Make sure you have plans for getting around the town. Walking everywhere is not ideal either, so renting a car may be your best option.
  • You can get great deals online, in advance! There’s a reason why people are booking online more and more these days. You can access great deals online with ease. Plus, walking in and booking a room is so much more expensive and risky. What if the hotel is full?
  • Money will be an issue. You need to budget for food, gas, flights, event tickets, tours, souveneirs, shopping, hotel fees, unexpected needs, and more! It’s not possible to just pick up and leave for New York.

Planning is more than important, it’s mandatory! There’s also no halfway planning. New York is a big deal, and planning your next trip to New York is an even bigger one.

Travel Packing Tips: 3 Clothing Essentials

Posted on 26 July 2009 by NYCcheaphotels

In a couple of days, you’ll be on your way to your destination. Whether you’re driving, flying, or even hiking, you need some sort of plan. So for now, it’s time to start packing! We’ve got 3 travel packing tips for selecting the outfits that should go from your endless closet to your very limited suitcase!

  1. Choose appropriate clothing for the climate. Summer in New York is a lot different than summer in Texas, just as winter in Florida is very different from Colorado! Check the weather forecast for the needed dates. Don’t hesitate to add an extra pair of pants just in case it get windy in the spring, or extra capris if it gets warm in fall.
  2. Sacrafice jeans, not tee’s. Denim takes up a lot of space in a suitcase. Check your bag now. How many pairs of jeans are you packing ? When you’re on vacation, there really is no need to pack 5 pairs of jeans for a week-long stay. Instead, pick out 2 different shades and pay $0.25 to use the washer if necessary.
  3. Suitcases and shoes were not meant to be. Shoes are difficult, clunky, and heavy! Limit yourself to a pair of comfortable shoes to walk in, a pair of dress shoes (only if needed!), and sandals/flip flops. If you;re traveling by air, wear the bulkiest pair on board.

*Bonus travel packing tip*- Roll your clothes up instead of folding them. It will prevent wrinkles and also save a lot of space.

Packing clothes isn’t so hard, now is it? Follow these travel packing tips, and you’re sure to see a lot more room in your bags.
